INTRODUCTION

In January of 2000, I found myself, as almost everyone does, relying entirely upon my Dermatologist to first determine the extent of the skin cancers I have been fighting most of my life, and second, to prescribe and implement the proper method of treatment.  For many, this can be our first mistake – believing that the Dermatologist has a working knowledge of the prescription drugs they will choose to use in our treatment.

I have yet to find a Dermatologist on the many bulletin boards I explore or in my own direct experience who had even so much as a basic knowledge of the true actions and potential consequences unique to Aldara.  Most compare it to Carac, Efudex, and Solaraze, all of which have only one thing in common with Aldara – they are all topically applied .  The drug action of Aldara  is completely different from these or any other drug on the market today.  Everyone, including doctors, has traditionally assumed that topically applied agents could never cause significant harm to a patient.  The attitude has been "it will either work or won't, not much to worry about".  These other drugs rely on direct cell destruction for their action, whereas Aldara uncontrollably "ALTERS" your delicate immune system.

During and shortly after my health threatening experience with Aldara, I saw many physicians of various expertise.   I had multiple and overlapping chronic symptoms which were very difficult  to segregate into any traditional class of diseases.  These doctors also did not understand Aldara.  In fact, none of the dozen or so had ever heard of the drug, which is quite normal in today's medical community.  They all opened their PDR drug reference manuals, where they saw nothing but the "positive" aspects of the drug, and were lead to continue their assumptions that a topically applied drug could not be responsible for any systemic problems.  It was only when I began to ask questions in terms of the chemicals the drug induces the immune system to produce that the connection was taken seriously.

This website was born out of my realization that there is no other single source the public can consult to learn of the many problems and potentially strong negative effects Aldara can cause some patients.  I will report to you my findings from over four years of researching the drug Aldara.  Much of what you will see is no longer available or is very hard to find in today's public domain.
